Basic Training Centre, Nalbari offers 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) course to pre-service teacher trainees. The annual intake capacity is 50 (fifty) and teacher trainees are selected from a common entrance test namely Pre-Entry Test (PET) conducted by SCERT, Assam every year.
About us
Nalbari is an administrative district in the state of Assam (India). The district headquarter is located in the Nalbari Town. The district occupies an area of 2257 sq. km.
Basic Training Centre, Nalbari was established at Nalbari Town in 1950. It was the time of freedom movement in India when Mahatma Gandhi had taken remarkable steps in the field of Basic Education. This educational scheme was prepared taking Dr. Zakir Hussain as president on Basic Education in 1937. The Basic Education was mainly based on Work & Craft Education and it maintains the Indian Philosophy of livelihood.
After Independence, The Government of Assam had passed Primary Education Law under the policy of Basic Education in 1949. As per this law, Basic Training Centre, Nalbari was established. In 1962, this centre was recognized as Government Institution. Initially six months Basic Training Course & 1-Year Jr. Basic Training Course were offered here. But, presently 2-Year D.El.ED. (Diploma in Elementary Education) Course is taught here under the affiliation of NCTE and under the supervision of SCERT, Assam.
Admission Procedure
Basic Training Centre, Nalbari offers 2-year D.El.Ed course under SCERT, Assam. SCERT, Assam conducts a common entrance test for the said course namely PET (Pre Entry Test) and students need to clear this entrance test in order to get admission in the course. Number of seats available in Basic Training Centre, Nalbari for the D.El.Ed course is 50.
